Road accident injuries

If the accident which caused your injuries was not your fault, you may be able to claim compensation for pain, suffering, damage to your vehicle and any related costs, including loss of income. Over 300,000 accidents take place on UK roads each year, and these can be caused by driver error or mechanical fault.

Speeding and driving under the influence of alcohol or drugs are also major causes of road accidents. Some ways to avoid road traffic accidents include:

1.When reversing out of a parking spot check behind you, left and right. Many minor accidents are caused when backing out of parking spaces, particularly when the driver behind is also reversing. Also take extra care to check if there are any shoppers/children behind your vehicle before you reverse.

2.If you are approaching traffic lights, never speed up, even if you think the lights are about to change to green. Many accidents are caused by people who jump the lights, without checking first if there is anything coming from junctions either side of the lights. Take your time, stop and make sure no vehicles are approaching at speed before you advance.

3.Ensure your headrest is situated in the correct positions, which is level with the top of your head. This may not help you avoid an accident but it could help you to avoid serious injury, as your neck and head will be cushioned against any impact which occurs during an accident.

4.When you change lanes in traffic, particularly on a motorway, always look back and have a quick look in your rear view mirror to make sure you see any upcoming vehicle. Check the blind spot before switching lanes, or you could cause a serious accident.

5.Your car will not often be visible to lorry drivers, so if you are travelling beside a lorry, overtake or stay back.

6.Make sure your car is well maintained. Tyres should be pumped up to the correct pressure, brakes should be working properly and all lights should be checked. Windscreen wipers should also be in good working order. Don?t wait until the rain is bucketing down to realise your wipers don?t work.

7.Always signal when you turn off, even if there is no traffic behind you. This way you will get in the habit of using your indicators, plus give plenty of notice to any vehicle behind you.

8.Always keep your distance from the car in front. If a car stops suddenly, because of an accident, you are likely to crash into the back of them if you are travelling too close behind. If the car behind is also travelling too quickly, you could cause a multiple collision.

9.If you are travelling behind another vehicle, try not to become transfixed with the car in front. Instead, try to look further forward down the road to see if any upcoming hazards are lurking. This way you can avoid dangerous situations and be aware of approaching road signs.

10.Dim your lights when driving at night, if you are driving close to the back of another car, or if you are approaching other vehicles.

If you are involved in a road traffic accident that is not your fault, you could be entitled to claim compensation with the help of a personal injury solicitor. Contact a solicitor who works on a no win, no fee basis, and one who will pay you 100% of the compensation.

can i be dismissed from my job for a assault charge?

i have been charged with common assualt following a traffic altercataion , no contact was made however looking at the charge it would suggest that the other person involved in the incident considered to be under threat of contact. Basically I lost my temper and would describe the incident as heated words and hand bags at 20 paces – however the police have now contacted my employer and they have called me in to the office for a meeting with my line manager – Can I be dismissed for this incident when I have yet to be found guilty? What can I expect to happen?
This incident was occured in the UK and i have been unable to find much assitance online.

Answer
That is up to your employer, most will wait for a conviction but some may suspend you from work until it is resolved.
